Overview

Sadolin Superdec Satin is a water-borne, highly durable opaque finish for wood, weathered plastic, steel, cladding, concrete, masonry and exterior joinery. Sadolin Superdec erodes naturally by weathering, thus ensuring the coating remains flexible and resists cracking, peeling and flaking. Sadolin Superdec Satin can be applied to new and previously painted or stained surfaces, and is ideal for use where a complete change of colour is required or where the existing surface has become weathered and uneven in appearance.

  • Self priming and undercoating
  • Flexible finish for exterior wood
  • 10 years durable protection
  • Tinted Colour Information

Tinted paint is custom mixed in house at Next Day Paint using our Sadolin tinting machine. We mix the paint on site, which means we can offer our usual fast delivery with no extra delay. Tinted Colour Match paints can't be cancelled or returned as they are tinted to order.

    Preparation

Timber surfaces must be suitably prepared, clean and dry.

    • Resinous deposits should be removed - Treatment of resinous knots is recommended prior to application of Sadolin Superdec by drilling out and filling or the application of an appropriate blocking primer
    • Degrease any exposed bare timber surface by wiping with a cloth dampened with methylated spirits

New Timber: Any non preservative treated softwood timber should be treated with two liberal coats of , paying particular attention to end grains, allowing 24 hours drying time between coats and before overcoating with Sadolin Superdec. Do not use Sadolin Superdec on substrates which have had water-repellent preservative treatments applied.

Base Stained / Primed Joinery : Lightly abrade, in the direction of the grain - Do not break through the surface coating - Remove all dust

Note: “Knotting agents” should not be used with Sadolin opaque systems - Fillers specifically designed for use with timber such as should be used for making good any minor surface defects, imperfections and open joints etc. General or All Purpose fillers are not suitable - Only use non-ferrous screws, nails and fixings

    Application

We recommend always following the manufacturer's instructions found on the tin. It is recommended that a small test area is applied before treating the entire surface to ensure compatibility.

  • Ensure product is thoroughly stirred before and during application
  • Apply in a full flowing coat ensuring all surfaces and end grains are fully coated
  • Following surface preparation in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations, finish with two full coats of Sadolin Superdec allowing a minimum of 16-24 hours drying between coats
  • For best results use a good quality brush specifically designed for use for the application of water borne products
  • Pay special attention to end grain, tops and bottoms of doors, and undersides of cills
  • Sadolin Superdec is supplied ready for use - Do not thin

Note: Do not apply if there is a risk of rain or bad weather conditions. Protect from frost and rain until dry.

Aftercare & Storage

The need for maintenance is indicated by a lightening in colour, reduction in sheen as the coating erodes, and a loss of water repellence.

  • All defective coatings should be completely removed
  • Any grey denatured exposed timber surfaces must be thoroughly sanded back to clean, bright timber
  • Organic growths must be removed and infected surfaces should be treated with a suitable fungicidal solution
  • Remaining sound surfaces should be cleaned using a warm water and mild detergent and rinsed thoroughly with clean water
  • Bare timber should be patch primed with one coat of Sadolin Superdec
  • Finish with 1 or 2 coats of Sadolin Superdec as required
